If setting big goals feels daunting, that’s understandable. Life is incredibly hectic and unexpected happenings can throw us off. But there’s no need to give up on staying active altogether, as the gym is not the one and only solution to fitness. Adding small, manageable changes into your daily life can help you in big ways. Curious how to make it work? Here are some ideas.

  1. Take the Stairs! According to a 2019 study, just three times 20-seconds of stair climbing spread throughout the day can significantly improve cardiorespiratory fitness.
  2. Do Air Squats, Lunges or Sit-Ups in front of the TV. A great way to keep watching your favourite series, but get some movement in. It does not need to be fast. Just move! Little example workout: 10 squats, 20 lunges, 20 sit ups, 2 or 3 times.
  3. When you meet friends, go for a walk together (with your doggie, of you have one.) or schedule something active such as trying a new activity together: bouldering (love it), wakeboarding, jogging.. a buddy can help you stay accountable as well.
  4. Get a desk bike, standing desk or balance board for at work! These might seem like big investments, but these should last you years and years, and an investment in your health is priceless, isn’t it?
  5. Need to make calls? Skip the couch and go walking. You often even forget you are walking as you’re focused on your convo. Easy way to get your steps in!

Hopefully there are one or two ideas brought to you. Remember that every little thing helps. Something is better than nothing!
